Vacation Part 2

Grandpa Rick and Grandma Terri with all their grandkids.

I was so relieved that I wouldn't have to drive 18 hours by myself to McCall this year that I decided to drive 18 hours by myself from McCall to CA, and then 18 back up to Olympia. So glad I did, though. Britain and Jason came down from AZ with their kids, and we had a lovely time.

On the way down I got to see a few people I treasure. Like Jasmine and Pamy,

Charlie and Laine with Jasmine's Thomas and Astrid

Cousin Kiki with Leila and Jude,

Einstein's Bagels Dance Off

And Grandma Beth.
Look at Henry's content face as he hugs his Grandma. They have always had an extra special bond.

In California we enjoyed a lot of beach time. Charlie ate a tremendous amount of sand and an untold number of unidentified objects. One lady approached me to let me know that my baby was "putting things in his mouth." This seemed kind of obvious and wholly unavoidable, and the only response I could come up with was to move him so maybe she wouldn't see his greedy feasting.

Avery

I laughed at this photo because I have no memory of Laine being buried up to her armpits.

Anna

Industrious

Some beach pairings:

Brothers

Laine and Maddie were delighted to learn they'd brought matching suits.

Laine and her mom

Henry and Anna

Laine and a boy called Angus. Apparently kindred spirits.

One day we took the kids to Balboa so Britain could take some photos (so cute - will post some when I get them), and then headed over to the Fun Zone. For some fun. That's why the top picture is so well coordinated wardrobe wise (the photos is the reason, not the fun).

Henry's cousins try to spend time with him by watching him play Hang Time.

I finally got to meet sweet baby Colin. See the family resemblance?

Charlie and Colin also brought matching outfits.

Maybe Charlie ate too much sand, because one day on the beach he had a major blowout and had to come home in Laine's clothes. Turns out he is not a very feminine looking baby.

All clean

Before we left we got to spend a little time with some more people we love.

The Redmans,

and the Cuevases. Henry and Luke picked up like no time has passed at all.

Always love our visits to California. Can't wait to get back for another long trip over Thanksgiving!

Funny--the hiding Charlie bit and the Laine in the sand bit. Not funny--you sent out a birth announcement? Only to family right? Or you would have sent me two?

You and your travels with babies amaze me.
I am still laughing about Charlie and his greedy feasting.
